Zoomer Analytics Newsletter #2: News about xlwings, xltrail and more

Hi all,

We've come a long way since our last newsletter in March: We made significant progress on our two flagship products xlwings and xltrail:

While xltrail was initially planned to work directly on your shared drive, we reinvented the product in the meantime: xltrail integrates now with your

version control system to visualize the difference between two versions of an Excel workbook. The

has been updated accordingly with a new video. Note that xltrail will support all Git platforms, including the most popular ones like GitHub, BitBucket and GitLab (cloud and on-premise versions).

While we expect to officially launch our beta program in just a few months, we encourage you to

on our wait list or follow our

to be the first to know when we're ready!

      xlwings

xlwings has had a major new release (currently at v0.11.4). The main feature is that xlwings now offers a fully fledged Excel add-in (in conjunction with a config file) on both platforms, Windows and Mac:

One major addition was also the introduction of Extensions: These are built-in functions that work as soon as the add-in is installed without further setup steps.

    SQL extension

The first built-in extension is the "In-Excel SQL extension" that allows you to use SQL statements directly on data in your spreadsheets (only available on Windows). Make sure to check out our

that gives you an overview of how this works!

    conda-forge

Another major improvement is that xlwings can now be installed via the

channel which allows us to make the new versions instantly available via conda as the official conda channel is usually a few versions behind.

      Feedback

As usual, reply to this email if you have any feedback or questions and we'll be happy to sort things out!
