Cross-platform Custom Functions are here!

Cross-platform Custom Functions are here!

Even though many of you love the existing user-defined functions (UDFs), I've heard many complaints over the years. Most prominently:

  • Why are they not supported on macOS?

  • Can we get rid of the local Python installation?

Guess what? We can, but that's not where it stops! Here are the most exciting features that the new custom functions bring to the table:

✅ Excel platform: Windows, macOS, Web

✅ Server OS: Windows, macOS, Linux

✅ No VBA

✅ Native support for pandas and NumPy

✅ Built-in SSO Authentication (Azure AD)

✅ No local Python installation required

✅ Bullet-proof source code protection

The new custom functions are based on xlwings Server in connection with Office.js add-ins. For all the details, have a look at the docs:

If you have any questions or would like to schedule a short call with me to discuss the advantages of the new custom functions, simply reply to this email.
